Refund Policy

At Darkolates, every cube is handcrafted with care, and your satisfaction means a great deal to us. Because our chocolates are perishable food products, returns are handled differently from non-food items. This policy explains when refunds and replacements apply, and how to request one.


Please note: For food safety and hygiene reasons, our chocolates cannot be returned or exchanged once delivered, except in the specific cases described below (damaged, defective, or incorrect items). This is in line with standard practice for edible, perishable goods.


1. When You Are Eligible for a Refund or Replacement

We will gladly offer a replacement or refund if, on arrival, your order is:

Damaged — the product or packaging arrived broken or crushed in transit.

Defective — the product has a genuine quality issue (e.g. spoiled or contaminated).

Incorrect — you received a different item from what you ordered.

Severely melted on arrival — beyond the minor softening that can naturally occur with real chocolate (see Section 4).


2. How to Request a Refund or Replacement

To help us resolve your issue quickly, please:

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at info@darkolates.com or +91 86606 94724.

Share your order number and a brief description of the issue.

Attach clear photos of the product and the outer packaging (and, where possible, an unboxing photo/video). This is essential for damage and defect claims.

Once we receive your request, our team will review it and respond, usually within 2–3 business days.


3. Non-Refundable Situations

We are unable to offer a refund or replacement in the following cases:

Change of mind, or the product simply not matching personal taste preferences.

Products that have been opened, partially or fully consumed (except genuine quality defects).

Claims raised after the 48-hour reporting window.

Delays, failed deliveries, or damage caused by an incorrect or incomplete address, or repeated failure to be available to receive the order.

Minor, natural variations in colour, texture, appearance, or finish (these are characteristic of handcrafted, natural chocolate).


4. A Note on Melting

Real dark chocolate, made without artificial stabilisers, is sensitive to heat. During warmer months or in transit, slight softening or surface whitening ("bloom") can occur — this is natural and safe to eat, and does not affect quality. We use protective packaging, but we cannot guarantee against minor softening in extreme temperatures. Severe melting that makes the product unusable is covered under Section 1.


5. Order Cancellations

You may request to cancel your order before it has been dispatched. If we are able to do so, we will refund the full amount.

Once an order has been dispatched, it cannot be cancelled, as the product is already in transit.


6. How Refunds Are Issued

Where a refund is approved:


It will be processed to your original payment method.

Refunds are typically initiated within 3–5 business days of approval; depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take an additional 5–7 business days to reflect in your account.

In some cases we may offer a replacement or store credit as an alternative, with your agreement.
